Presidents speech WPT 2026 English
AN ADDRESS BY THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE CAMEROON SOCIETY OF PHYSIOTHERAPY (CASP) ON THE OCCASION OF THE WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY CELEBRATION
News
Dear Colleagues, Distinguished Members, and Friends of the Cameroon Society of
Physiotherapy (CASP),
Today, I stand before you with a deep sense of pride, gratitude, and profound
responsibility as we join the global healthcare community to celebrate World
Physiotherapy Day 2026. On behalf of the National Executive Council of CASP, I wish
every single one of you a happy and fulfilling celebration.
This day belongs to you. It belongs to the dedicated clinicians in our urban hospitals,
the resilient practitioners in our rural clinics, our brilliant researchers in academia, and
the passionate students who represent the future of our noble profession across
Cameroon. Today, we celebrate your hard work, your compassion, and the life-
changing impact you make daily.
The global theme for World Physiotherapy Day 2026 is: “The role of physiotherapy and
physical activity in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular
disease and stroke.
”
This theme hits home profoundly. In Cameroon and across Sub-Saharan Africa, non-
communicable diseases—specifically cardiovascular conditions and strokes—are rising
at an alarming rate, altering families and placing heavy burdens on our communities.
Too often, the public views physiotherapy merely as a reactionary tool for bone
injuries or sports rehabilitation.
